Just because I can order coffee in English doesn't mean I could do my job in English. Why assume the dispatcher could?
My daughter is one of those dispatchers for the city of Pointe Claire and tells me a major requirement for the job is being bilingual, this also applies to all the cops and public security personnel and EMT techs that she can call upon, She tells me there are no unilingual people in here sphere of influence.
Also while some one may be bilingual it doesnt mean they are bilingual in everything and may rely on a dispatcher/cop/EMT tech to have better knowledge of their particular field of expertise in their own language. As an example if your baby has stopped breathing you may want help in the language you are most familiar with.
Her take on the likelihood of a a dispatch person being uniligual French in Montreal is about zero.

If 70% of Anglos are functionally bilingual then why do they need services in English?
Good point and to answer i'll say probably the same reason obviously bilingual francophones in the ROC need services in French.
I think it was pretty obvious he was being sarcastic.
These message boards dont convey certain nuances of conversation very well. so sometimes we miss the humor/irony /sarcasm etc.
Obviously Lexs sarcasm wasnt obvious to me.

So you honestly thought that lexdiamonds, after all of the things he's posted on here, had a sudden change of heart and came across to your side of the argment just then and there?

I have no idea what Lex is thinking from a post like that (#205). As for coming over to my side? What side would that be as i thought we are both Canadians.
Curious how you so readily speak up for our Mr Lex Diamond and presume to know the intentions of his posts.. And what argument are we presumably on opposite sides of.French /English?
