His French is perfect I can assure you. He wouldn't have his job if it wasn't.

It's interesting to hear of an Archbishop who's open to the idea.

The doctrine around clergy (even "minor" clergy like deacons) involves too much history and whatnot for me to wrap my head around it all. I did read not too long ago, though, that there are an increasing number of men becoming Catholic deacons. They're able to do a bit of parish work, lessons the demands on the shrinking number of overworked priests.
