You must be a "Red Tory" - the rough equivalent to a "Rockefeller Republican" in the States.

Ricky is still upset about a party that hasn't existed for 15 years, and conveniently forgets that the Tories were reduced to two seats and lost official party status before those dirty Westerners came around.

The actual Progressive Conservatives were killed by Mulroney and his pandering to Quebec while ignoring the base of his support amongst other things.

There's still a few former Republicans who reside in the Northeast who are upset because they believe Southerners took over the party.

I think he may have. His family I believe "lost" French at one point and then he regained it later in life.

But his roots are definitely Franco-Ontarian.

I thought Mulroney was a right-winger by Quebec standards.

Not really. The definition varies from era to era and person to person, but to me Mulroney was the classic Canadian Red Tory.
