I think Justin Trudeau is well-meaning. Beyond that, I cannot say. I actually feel ambivalent about all first time PMs, regardless of party affiliation. I think it is a hard job and one that will never please everyone. So I wish them well and then I watch and wait. But that hasn't stopped me from been enjoying the fact that a dark cloud seems to have been removed.

Jean-Louis Roux, who later became a very adamant and borderline fundamentalist Québécois Canadian federalist, also flirted with Nazism in his youth, also because they were fighting the British empire that oppressed French Canadians (we can suppose).
It wasn't unknown among Canadian Russian Mennonites either, intellectuals and otherwise. Part of the reason was that many hoped that the Germans would drive the Bolsheviks from power so that they could return to their former lands in the Russian Empire, and some of them bought into the idea of eine Deutsche Volk. I think you have to judge people in the context of their times.
