Some have claimed that Islam will see accelerated expansion in Canada under Trudeau's watch. But how much influence will Islam actually have?

I can only see it increase... perhaps not to the point Canada could be considered a Muslim country but Muslim influence will grow one way or another.

I see you've hit the celebratory drugs a little too hard...

I think Islam would have grown in Canada regardless of who was Prime Minister. It grew under the 10 years of Conservative rule as well. None of the main parties is in favour of reducing immigration, and Canada does not discriminate on the basis of religion (or country of origin) in choosing its immigrants.

It could be that the Liberal government will pooh-pooh stuff like the niqab more than the Conservatives would have, but even so the Tories weren't going to ban it outright - just in a few "official" settings.

I assume that even with a Liberal government we will have a societal debate when you start getting veiled women wanting to be police officers and public school teachers. We'll see how that works out.

Please don't be scared of us. I know the media gives us a bad rep, but most of us are decent people like you.

Anyway, even if you don't like us, Muslims are a TINY minority in the US, and I imagine the same is true in Canada. So even if the Muslim population in Canada increases, it will still be really small.

Well, that would certainly point to veiled women having had the freedom to choose the veil and removing one misconception about it.

I would imagine a woman, any woman, who wanted to be a police officer, to be a very independent kind of woman. I would imagine a woman wanting to be a teacher, to value education, and to have put personal thought into her decision to wear a niqab. I imagine the women who might be forced to wear a face covering to be hardly ever out of their homes.

For me, a niqab is primarily an item meant to be worn for medical (e.g. when the wearer has respiratory diseases or immune system diseases) or sanitation purposes...

Just that I'm rather cautious about how Islamized Canada will become.
