The exchange rate is just about $1.37 now? Really. I think I just decided I like going to the USA $37% less. Later this year I am heading to South America instead unless the places in the USA I like get 37% better :P! This sucks!

Neighbour next door to me down here in Fla. just sold his house and has made plans to divide his winter between Panama and Portugal next winter.

He bought low when their economy had tanked with our dollar at par and sold high with our dollar being lower so he's making out like a bandit.

Sounds like a smart guy to me. Portugal is a fantastic country. I can't say enough good things about it! I want me some Super Bock.

Speaking of travel, Turkish airline is having a big sale offering return trip to more than 20 European cities for about $600 in April/May, including France, Italy, Greece, Czech, Croatia etc. Sounds a fantastic deal considering it is in the warm months. I am debating whether should do Greece but I just spent a month in Europe in January!

As we agreed, it's not that expensive to fly out of YYZ, unless you only do domestic trips which I never do. Greece sounds 100 times better than boring Florida I'd say. I honestly don't know why Canadian ever waste money in that third class place.

The Canadian dollar is back to being within a "normal" range of 75-85 cents US. Canada as a whole doesn't do well with the dollar at par.

It's a matter of convenience and pleasure for most of us Botti.

A significant number of those of us using Florida, or some other destination in the U.S., do so as a second home with the convenience of being back in Canada if required at a two hour flight duration.

A significant number of us have been-there-done-that and have a wardrobe full of polo shirts older than you from all of your preferred travel destinations 50 years ahead of you when those destinations were still unpretentious, pristine and were considered an adventure just to get to. Some of us still avail ourselves of the opportunity occasionally.

Try looking beyond the end of your lofted proboscis at the ability to enjoy any number of theaters, museums, recreational venues, a cruise ship leaving from more than a few ports for a week or two, rent a Harley for a few days tour, snorkel with the Manatees, golf 'til you drop on hundreds of lush courses, watch your favourite home sports team down here for training, attend one of hundreds of five star restaurant featuring a variety of the world's cuisines, shop 'til you drop for whatever twigs your fancy, lay/walk on a white sand beach over 50 miles long, take a glider flight, or just simply veg in front of your wide screen TV secure in the comfort of knowing you're not on any schedule........ and do all of these with a chosen few of a cadre of long term friends (that's the biggie) using your own locally tagged vehicle to drive to in less than an hour in most cases.

In short Botti; I'm convinced you could broaden your horizons by simply taking a walk around your inner city Toronto block and lowering you nose just far enough to allow your eyes to actually take in your local surroundings.

Go ahead, surprise yourself.

If you haven't been to Greece who cares if you've been to Europe this year or not. If you have the time for that price - GO! Turkish is a fantastic airline as well - even in steerage!

Saudia has an amazing promo to Amman.. Less than 600 bucks CAD return... I haven't been to Jordan but Petra beckons me and my partner. Oh well, next year! This year is East/Southeast Asia for us.
