Anyone know why a note of non disclosure must be signed before anyone can enter Fort McMurray???
I find that very curious, and am surprised the media doesn't or won't look into the reason.

There is not enough tin foil for me to go to that link.

I'm going to go with Occam's razor here and say that if an NDA is required, it's so that people don't go posting pictures of all the damage and get people riled up before they have a chance to go see for themselves. Also potentially posting information about deaths before next of kin can be notified. The point of the visits is to assess your damage, not create a story and foment more tragedy.

Those were the early days after the fire. I think it was a safety issue. I believe it was felt that if residents knew their houses/neighbourhoods were undamaged there would be attempts by many to go back home before it was safe and water, gas and electricity was up and running.

It was unsafe as evidenced by this article: RCMP seek occupants of some damaged Fort McMurray homes - Edmonton - CBC News

It's to protect the privacy of Ft. McMurray residents, businesses and properties from nosey, tinfoil, irresponsible, sensation and fear mongering bloggers and FB social media, snoopy lookie-loos and potential looters who should stay away, mind their own business and keep their mouthes shut about something that has nothing to do with them. Like that nosey tinfoil blogger you linked to should mind his own business, and that yappy vetrinarian he interviewed that wasn't allowed to enter.

The officially recognized Canadian media and people who actually need to go there have responsible standards to maintain and they already understand and respect the reasons and necessity for non disclosure in this case so there's no need for media to "look into" any reasons for it or to speak about it.

So WHAT is the reason???
Do you think people should [not] help (if they don't live there) because it has "nothing to do with them"?
Maybe they shouldn't send financial help because "it's none of their business"?
What are these "responsible standards" you speak of.....none I'm aware of.
The "officially recognized media" is fluff, never tells the whole truth...just some.
Do you feel that people who ask questions are all "tinfoil, snoopy, looie-loos, and fear mongerers???
85% of Fort McMurray is untouched....there were NO deaths

I find it very curious.....especially when people from everywhere have contributed their time, money and opened their homes to help those who've lost so much.
For you to say they should "mind their own business and keep their mouths shut about something that has nothing to do with them" seems like a very unfair view of people who're just trying (and are doing) their best to help.
Mainstream media has NO respect for anyone...only their pockets and who they can exploit for their next best story.

Do you really think they need to see it on t.v. first?
There were no deaths.
The point of the insurance agents visit is to assess the damage.......the point of the media is to tell and show the truth. I can't see how showing the damage in fort mcmurray is going to "foment more damage". If anything it'll spur people into helping more.

You did not bother to consider the descriptors used by the poster to describe the negative quadrant at all did you?

Surely you have the capacity to see the difference between a town allowed full of transient tourists all snapping away with their I-phones getting underfoot and creating a nightmare of traffic and impeding the movements of material and machinery needed to rebuild ASAP ......and .....those genuinely interested in sending dollars NOT shiving-a-git about any non-disclosure agreement........er, don't you?

The fact that you aren't aware of and can't comprehend what responsible standards are demonstrates that you are some kind of young, bored, spoiled and sheltered sensation seeker who has never had their privacy or personal property or rights violated by strangers. Provided such violations don't happen to you then you don't care if other people are violated and traumatized and that is "fair" as long as your personal curiosity is satisfied.

If you feel you deserve explanations for their reasons for non-disclosure then first of all you will need to disclose to us irrefutable, verifiable proof of what you have personally done to support and protect the residents, businesses and properties of Ft. Mac. If you feel that the support that you imply you have provided means you are so deserving of explanations then you certainly won't mind disclosing verifiable personal information about yourself right here online, will you? So let's have it, and it has to be verifiable, okay? Don't forget to include pictures of yourself, and your full name and home address and a list of your financial and all other contributions to the people of Ft. Mac.

Pure poppycock....why not just say you DON'T KNOW...is that so hard?
Do you even comprehend the question at all???
Is it easier to write insults about someone you know nothing about than to answer a question?...obviously so.
"you will need to disclose to us"......who is the "us" you speak of....or is that question too hard for your sensibilities to comprehend as well.
