Ill feelings, of course, separatism, no. Pierre Trudeau couldn't even get off the train in Vancouver because of the protests ... people throwing tomatoes or something like that ... but no one talked about separatism.

Justin Trudeau is going to push the pipelines through so Alberta can get rich again and thus contribute to Canada's wealth. In the meantime, he's going to borrow money to ensure that other provinces that previously benefited from Alberta's wealth will not feel the recession.

Talk about a no win situation.. If the pipelines were quashed he would have been anti Alberta, if they are approved he is doing it to line everyone else's pockets in the country at Alberta's expense. Yes, there is a grand conspiracy in the R.O.C to totally and completely take advantage of Alberta. Alberta is the only Province in the country that ever has and ever will contribute to the Canadian economy.. The rest of us are just a bunch of freeloaders plotting to steal from you Leineke! I really don't work and pay taxes actually - I simply stay home all day and mooch off Albertans or borrowed money in the meantime until I can yet again mooch off of you muhahaha in my ivory Toronto tower! Said conspiracy and mooching explains everything, nothing to do with the global market.

Why are you so emotional?

Well humans are emotional beings but that has nothing to do with my post really, which was designed to highlight some of the lunacy of your comments.

This wouldn't be the first time you suggested that I am a lunatic who deserves to be ridiculed. Perhaps you would be so kind as to put me on ignore so I don't have to suffer your insults. Thank you.

I said highlight the lunacy of your comments, I didn't say you were a lunatic that deserved to be ridiculed. I have no clue where you got that one from.. I tend to separate comments from the individual. That said, if you write something in here that doesn't jive you might be called out for it. I'm happy to have my comments called out if i'm wrong about something. I find however that your comments are usually 'us' vs 'them' in nature.

Again, from you, I read that my comments are lunacy. In the past, this is followed by ridicule and suggestions that I am a child. This quality of comment is clearly not meant as a positive contribution. What is the purpose of suggesting that someone suffers from lunacy?

You're trying to create a hook or trigger if you will to pull away from the discussion. You also asked why I was 'so emotional' which was irrelevant and didn't address the core of what I was trying to say which was that Trudeau was in a no win situation, as per your commentary and that yes, based on your comments that you have an overactive imagination that the ROC is out to mooch off your Province which I think is yes, Lunacy as a comment to say. I don't recall suggesting you are a child or that you suffer from 'lunacy' and I would attribute that to an overactive imagination.

So if you want to contribute to a positive discussion regarding Trudeau, what should he have done regarding the pipelines? Put aside the fact that he is a liberal - what actions should he have taken?

Fusion, you've just proved that you're not a Torontonian, you're a Calgarian, at least 60 years old, and about six pints into an evening at the local Legion.

Seriously, that's the demographic for Alberta separatism.

Even more seriously, though, there have been a few good points raised. Pierre Trudeau was not popular in Alberta, mainly because of the NEP. The "Salmon Arm Salute" is not a footnote in the history books out here; it is often brought up as an example of Pierre Trudeau's contempt for western Canada. Justin is similarly unpopular, mainly because of the family connection. Maybe, if the Liberals had selected Marc Garneau as Liberal leader, things would be different. "Marc Garneau was a successful astronaut and accomplished engineer, Justin Trudeau is just a failed drama teacher"--that's the vibe out here.

But as I said, there are grumblings; and that's all they are. Certainly, while I hear grumblings, I don't hear about out-and-out separation in my daily affairs--never heard about it at the sports bar, at the golf course, at the coffee shop, or the courthouse; or other places I frequent here in Alberta.
