Politics is about diplomacy. Without it, there is chaos. Trump does not apparently believe in diplomacy. Do you think the Chinese would be saying this

if Trump weren't so undiplomatic?

Your views seem very one level.
Well, they did it to Obama, and Bush, and many more. Since when don't they freak out about everything we do?
The National Defense Authorization Act 2017, which President Barack Obama recently signed into law with less than a month before he leaves the White House, threatens to strongly anger China anew with a provision suggesting conduct of senior military exchanges between the U.S. and Taiwan.

China's Foreign Ministry has lodged "stern representations" with the U.S. for that particular clause of suggested high-level military exchanges with self-ruled Taiwan. China continues to insist that Taiwan is part of China, and that the U.S. should adhere to the long-time " One-China" policy, which only acknowledges Beijing as China's authority in international matters with the worldhttp://www.thegoldwater.com/news/862-China-Angry-Over-Obama-s-Defense-Act-Threatens-Not-To-Accept-It

Obama made them angry on the way out.

All Trump did was accept a phone call, and people are hanging him. I think if your name is Trump, it wouldn't matter if you were Jesus, people just hate him. He does the same stuff all our other presidents have done, he's just a lot more transparent. You never really knew what Obama was up to until it was long over.

In Canada there is no such thing as an American refugee. Likewise, in America there is no such thing as a Canadian refugee. Neither country recognizes refugees or asylum seekers who are citizens of either country. No other foreign country has brought war to either Canadian or American soil and there has never been a need for people of either country to seek help as refugees or asylum seekers. Not with any country. (Please note that I'm not talking in this instance about the times of the underground railroad when African American slaves were smuggled out of USA and brought to asylum and safety in Canada.)

However, Canada has already hosted and helped many, many stranded American citizens when they were prevented by the American government from being allowed to enter USA. As a matter of fact I believe right now some Canadian homes are hosting American citizens who have been stranded in Canada because of Trump's travel ban.

How many stranded Canadians or Canadian refugees or asylum seekers would America welcome in the event of war?

If and when some other foreign country brings war to either USA or Canada you should come back then and ask us that question about refugees to each other and we can discuss it then.

I believe the Canada forum is an inappropriate place for you to be asking how many American refugees Mexico would take. That question should be asked in the forum for Mexico.

Americans do not live in a vacuum....Canada has supported Americans many times in the past, so comments like the USA is protecting and taking care of us I find insulting....Have you ever heard of Operation Yellow Ribbon?

9/11......During that operation, departing flights—with the exception of police, military, and humanitarian flights—were cancelled, marking the first time that Canadian airspace had been shut down. In total, as a result of Operation Yellow Ribbon, 255 aircraft were diverted to 17 different airports across the country.

Canada and Canadians hosted thousands of passengers stranded in Canada until U.S. airspace was reopened. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Yellow_Ribbon

when Clinton bombed the China Embassy in Belgrade "accidentally", I don't see the media and the American people outraged over that either. People and the media just pretend to be blind when it suits them.

George. Bush had the audacity to criticize human rights in China, when its phony wars killed millions, destroyed countried and created global terrorism? I guess only American citizens deserve "human rights". If he were the president of a small country, he would be in prison due to war crime now. And we Canadians keep pretending we have a benign neighbour due the sole reason that it doesn't affect Canada.

Trump is probably one the very few, if not the only US presidents who actually does what he promised in the campaign. Most just talk talk talk and once elected abandon everything said before.

Doesn't change the fact that he lies and misconstrues facts, literally, on a daily basis.

It looks like Canada is interested in proceeding with the TPP without the U.S. after all:

Canada confirms participation in post-TPP talks next month in Chile - Politics - CBC News

The other countries that haven't pulled out (so far) are Australia, Brunei, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam. A couple of interesting comments from the article:

Quote:
the TPP was a way to overcome Canada's difficulty negotiating a bilateral trade agreement with Japan, a large and valuable market with a stated preference for wider-ranging trade deals, as opposed to negotiating with partners one at a time.
Quote:
A future post-TPP deal could be a vehicle to enshrine Canada's free trade relationship with Mexico in another agreement.

That's good news. I hope none of the other countries listed pull out.
