driving licence / work in Canada as a U.S. Resident (insurance, live)

i have a question
If I have an U.S. green card and social security number , can i make a driving licence and work as a normal Canadian citizen ?

can u tell me ! i just move to canada and trying to obtain a working permit in the trucking field.currently i have a states liscense from florida for driving the commerical industry in trucking,do i need anypaperwork to cross to and from canada and united states working for a trucking company in canada driving their truck
desperately seeking answer.........................

A US green card and SSN will not allow you to get either a driver's licence from a Canadian province, or to work in Canada legally.

To obtain a Canadian-issued licence, you'll need to prove you have legal status in Canada by providing a Canadian birth certificate, Canadian citizenship certificate, Canadian Permanent Resident card, etc.

To legally work in Canada, you need to obtain a Canadian Social Insurance Number. To obtain a SIN, you need proof of your eleigibility to work in Canada such as a Canadian birth certificate, Canadian citizenship certificate, PR card, Canadian work visa, etc.

To legally work for a Canadian company in Canada you need to provide proof of legal entitlement to work such as a Permanent Resident card, Canadian work visa, etc. You also need to obtain a Canadian Social insurance Number.

Driving licences are issued by each province, so the acceptability of your Florida CDL may vary depending on where you live.

To cross the border, you'll need meet the requirements of both the US and Canadian immigration departments with regard to visas, passports etc.

Many trucking companies which do cross-border hauls also require their drivers to be eligible for expedited customs programs like Nexus and CanPass.
