Default Driving through Canada going to AK

We are moving to Alaska at the first of April. I just had something dawn on me and thought I would post here and ask. We have a 35lb mixed breed dog and we would like to bring it with us,however almost all the hotels I see in the AAA travel book say small dogs with a fee. What are the chances that we will experience trouble finding a hotel to stay in with our dog?

Guess I should say we will be entering from the Seattle Washington area.
