I am not 100% sold on the orangic movement for an entire bunch of reason that I am not going to get in to, but I think as someone buying or eating something I want to be able to make informed decisions and the labels should be accurate. The example I gave about the sandwich was a prime example. There is no way that was 160 kcal and only 4.5 g of fat with a full slice of good old bacon in it. Someone scewed up somewhere. It might directly impact my health today, but it could have a negative impact on someone's else health and safety. I will be contacting the company later to state my point.
I buy only certain things organic. I do prefer organic hamburger meat....costly but to me it just tastes better. I don't always buy it, I do buy grass fed beef as well and regular old beef if it's in a recipe that you can't tell the difference in taste.
One product that I really notice a difference in is eggs. I buy free range or organic. The eggs are so much more tasty and the yolks gold and not pale, pale yellow.
Overall though, i agree, I'm not totally sold on " organic " but more on buying from smaller local producers. Freshness is the key.

Chickens here aren't normally fed corn which is what can make any egg yolk bright yellow. It all depends on what the chickens eat, the colour the yolks are but what they eat also affects flavour to a certain extent. We had a dozen chickens up until a few years ago but since they each laid an egg a day, it was trouble getting rid of so many eggs. Now there is a neighbour in the same predicament who is desperately foisting eggs on us. I recognise that look of desperation. She gives us so many eggs that even if we ate an egg a day, we would never keep up. And I know she is already giving eggs to other people so I pass the surplus onto my parents who in turn regift it to my siblings.

I read food labels and I trust them. The only thing I really pay attention to is the trans fats, the stuff that cheeses up your arteries. If you like your cookies and ice cream, you should be paying the most attention to that. The saturated I could care less about.
Why not send an email to the producer of these cookies asking them to explain their dietary claims for their product.

I actually know how to due to calculations to determine the calories, protein and everything else content in foods. Honestly the cookies were not all that tasty lol. I would not buy them again and shared them with my co-workers who have varried opinions of the product. I will forgive a smaller company vs a bigger company.

My parents' farm is what I know of commercial chicken production, not the slaughter end but I don't believe that Canadian chicken is washed with chlorine. Since one of my chores involved feeding chickens on what is essentially a factory farm (my parents were large chicken producers - it wasn't a dozen chickens running around the yard. No one talked about organic anything when I was growing up.) I was turned off chicken and seldom eat it.
