Trudeau, more hawkish or dovish? I like his politics but can't get a handle on what he believes about going to wars. Personally, I'm an american and very much a dove.

He's very much a multilateralist...really, we haven't got a choice.
Sounds like he's not black or white but multi in choices...open minded...not rush to start wars etc.
Please explain if I'm misunderstanding.
I consider myself multi lateral too then...fiscal conservative, liberal thinker. Protect people more, corporations will do just fine.
I remember back during Nam, my good friend's daughter moved to B.C. and never returned to So. Cal to live. I would encourage my grandson to go to Canada before pushing him to the wars.

The country's role historically been to support NATO and peacekeeping missions, like European, Australia and NZ etc countries. To be a hawk means that you live in a country that can act unilaterally almost on a whim, and there are very few of those left.

I honestly doubt you'll see a military draft (conscription) again in the U.S. similar to what they did during the Vietnam War.
Oh, and OP: he's not really "new" anymore. He's almost halfway through his term at this point.
