Around 1980 we fished Cliff Lake in Ontario and after 3 days of fishing, caught zero fish. In fact, saw no signs of fish, not even a minnow.
A year later I was at a sports show in Milwaukee and a woman overheard me talking to someone about getting skunked on Cliff Lake. She said there was a chemical spill on the lake that killed off all the fish.
I have been curious since then what happened? Does anyone remember anything about that? It would have been either 1979 or 1980. Plus, how would a spill happen? A truck going through the ice or ?
I am sure the lake is fine now but got another question, the Wabigoon river in Dryden with that damn paper mill. How polluted is it? Plus, I know the river runs into Clay Lake, I fished that as well but it has to be pretty polluted from the mill.
