What are some French Canadian Christmas songs? Do Anglo Canadians have songs unique to them, or do they borrow songs from America and Britain?

French Canadian Québécois Christmas music has an extremely high degree of cross-pollination with Christmas music in France. All of the religious-based music is basically the same and there is also lots of commonality in non-religious Christmas music.

For example, last weekend my kids' Christmas concert ended with everyone in the place singing along to this classic song from a 1946 French movie:

New Year's music is its own distinct thing in Quebec, and a fairly big deal. Radio stations switch over from Christmas music to New Year's music on Dec. 26.

Here are some examples of New Year's music:

Thanks Nat.

You made me think of this one by an Acadian band from the east coast.

Here is another adaptation of a well known song. The song itself was very popular when I was teen living in Ontario in the 80s. I'd never seen the animated version until now.

Thinking about this more, and while I am sure there are a number of very local songs that exist out there of the "Christmas on the Island" (PEI) or "Santa Lost His Sleigh in Saskatoon" variety, I can't think of any Canadian Christmas songs in English that would be remotely recognizable to most people over a wider area.
