Hi. I am from a small town in Northern New York and am looking for change to improve my life. I was hoping some of you may have ideas of where good places to start over may be.
About me, I am 30 years old. I have a bachelor's degree in theater arts and have finished about half of a masters degree in global studies. My job history has been a bit all over the place and unremarkable. I worked in a gas station for about 4 years, substitute teaching for 3, I have had a few delivery jobs and some inventory work.
In addition to this I have a TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) which I received in Prague, and I spent 6 months doing missionary work in Quebec and French Polynesia.
I live in a small village in an area with not many opportunities. I want to live somewhere that's not too big, but some place where there is opportunity to both work as well as to explore and experience new things.
(Note: this is would not be a politically based move, I find the notion of moving because I don't like a President silly)

Refreshing!
You did mention having previous time in Quebec. Why not parlay that?

Frankly, based on what you said, I believe you need to put a bit more focus in your career as a priority, something you can do in the US. Also, a nice relatively small town is something you can find in the US as well (and with most likely an incredibly cheap cost of living), without the need to emigrate in another country (it costs money, it takes time and you may not even qualify under the Canadian immigration criteria).
Finally, to truly experience something new and different, if that is really what you like and what you want, I would go somewhere else than Canada which is very similar to the US and not enough of a change in my opinion (and experience). You may try to leverage your ESL certificate and missionary experience to do some teaching overseas.

Canada may be the closest exciting place to where you are in Northern New York but it is not especially easy to get in as a permanent resident much less a citizen. I'd suggest NYC, your TEFL skills ought to be in demand there and maybe even your theater skills. Otherwise market your skills to any big diverse city anywhere in the U.S. first.
