He doesn't like being compared to the alt-right. He is not alt-right.
He doesn't sound crazy at all. One of his critiques of Justin Trudeau is Trudeau's move to appoint a 50/50 male/female Cabinet from a pool of candidates that is 78/22 male/female. Trudeau is giving gender parity more weight than who is actually better qualified. I don't see that as twisted, but rather as a grounded, sound criticism.
You do realize that all Prime Ministers select by criteria other than talent. Regional, religious and language aspects have played a large part of who is in the cabinet for decades. If a party has only one elected member from all of Atlantic Canada that person will almost always become a cabinet minister. Or the only minority or First Nations person gets a post.
So Trudeau selected a few more females and a few less males into his cabinet and it suddenly becomes a tragedy because not all the best folks are ministers. Can you image the out rage if he thought the best all came from Quebec and BC how Ontario and the Prairie folks would react.
I think Peterson is looking to score points with white males who think that everyone has always had the same opportunities as they have had and that they deserve to be the leaders.

In Canada the selection pool for cabinet positions are elected members of parliament. Women are under represented in parliament and currently equally represented in cabinet (for the first time ever).
Ah, but how about lefthanded folks? Short people? Redheads?
I think female teachers are primarily responsible for getting hyper-active boys on psychosomatic drugs. Long-term use of these drugs does screw with the brain and cognitively screwed-up young men will shun college to save face (or simply not be able to get in or perform well enough academically if accepted and enrolled). Still 40% of undergraduates on campuses across N.A. are male. A balance of young men go into the military, take on other public service jobs, take up trades / vocations, work in the family business, enter the priesthood... some do *ss-time on their parents' couch... some are stuck in dead-end jobs...

And the ratio is 56/44, not 60/40.
Men are skipping college is not a bad thing. Kind of made me laugh about the teachers drugging boys comment. The boys are fine. Well, at least the ones with a brain are.
Men are adapting to the realities of debt and the education landscape. Unless you are going to university for a STEM or a useful degree such as Accounting...you are likely wasting time and money. Men see this and are adjusting by going straight to work, taking apprenticeships, going to tech school, joining the military, and going to community college first. It is women who are behind the curve in terms of post high school education.
Also, I think Jordan Peterson is the manifestation of all center and right-leaning populations stuck in a leftist society. It's a shining light for the majority of young men in Canada who are confused about who they are. There is a huge movement about MGTOW and other movements that promote masculinity. I think it's partly a world phenomenon, but also a result of the way the country has been ruled in the past 10+ years.
I moved out of Canada in 2014 (after having an existentialist crisis), but I've been watching it all from a distance. I am from Toronto so I watched in disdain as Wynne and later Trudeau took over the country. So there was a backlash, and Ford won in Ontario, and as that backlash grows (it's already huge), I think we'll see the Conservatives ruling the country by 2019 again.
My original question was why males shun college as you claim. In nutshell, the answer I’m hearing from you is that it’s because boys are brain damaged and it’s the fault of female teachers.
You're getting it now. Were it just simply about the qualifications and opportunity, Trudeau's cabinet would look probably as it should and does. It's not that however, underlying all of this Jordan Peterson stuff is the legitimizing of "whining" and enabling the poor young white males feeling marginalized because there are females in direct competition with them for the first time in their lives.
We quite often found this among major unions we were consulting with about bringing their job descriptions, job evaluations systems and pay scales forward into the 19th century. There were and perhaps still are, in spite of legislation supposedly addressing it, job descriptions out there that describe jobs as "high physical" versus "low physical" and women paid less even though they're doing one of the high physical jobs.
It was like throwing a Tasmanian Devil into the union hall of predominantly men to suggest that their next collective agreement should include the words "those candidates, regardless of gender, demonstrating equal skill and ability" ……. Coming to grips with hundreds of years of indoctrination both out in the labour force and sometimes within the very homes the young are raised in can be a traumatic experience for those who tend to think mom preparing the meal and also washing up after dinner was a purely genetic predisposition.
