I'm curious about the ÃŽles-de-la-Madeleine, a beautiful chain of islands in Quebec just off PEI in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. I like places with big open skies and visible horizons, these sandy islands look appealing and I'm possibly entertaining the idea of going there this summer. They're not easy to get to, but if anyone has been I'd love hear your story.

So I guess nobody has been. I suppose these islands are pretty isolated and hard to get to. It can be difficult to get experience and discussion in this forum regarding the Maritimes and Atlantic Canada.

I agree with begratto, I think you haven’t gotten many responses because there aren’t that many Francophone Quebecers on here. It’s rather popular in the summer. I have never made it but many family members have, and it looks gorgeous. In these parts it is much more popular than Newfoundland.
My mother's family used to go many years ago. My mother said she have very good memories of the place. This was in the 1940's so it can't be that difficult to get there.

Well yes I know it's not terribly complicated to get there, just requires patience. Flying direct there is very expensive. I suppose I could drive up to YUL airport and fly to Charlottetown, then catch the five hour ferry and have the bonus of taking in PEI coming and going from the ferry. Driving to PEI takes over 12 hours, so I'd have to fly. These islands for some reason do look very intriguing.
