I've spent my entire life in Florida but have very much enjoyed my visits to Nova Scotia (in the Summer). I've enjoyed them so much, I've often thought about buying some oceanfront land there with my family. I had some questions I was hoping someone from Nova Scotia / PEI / New Brunswick could answer or maybe point me to a site that can help.
1) I notice there are endless amounts of oceanfront property, but most people live off of the coast or at least in bays/inlets. Is this because of the Winter weather that no one wants to live right on the ocean or are there other reasons?
2) Is it relatively easy to purchase oceanfront property in Nova Scotia, or does the province put lots of restrictions on this?
3) How hard is it to build a house outside of a subdivision and get electricity / water utilities run to it?
4) Any parts of Nova Scotia you find particularly nice that maybe I should check out?
5) How would you go about finding available land in Nova Scotia (I've always looked at mls.ca)?
