An RV, apparently late for a ferry, has crashed into it trying to catch it: video on youtube. Sadly, the driver has died in the crash. Surprised to see things like this happening in calm and peaceful Canada, it seems something like that would happen only in other countries out there. For what it's worth, it seems to have happened in the French part of Canada.

Maybe he was trying to emulate a Dukes of Hazzard move .

The speed of the vehicle seems a little high for a ferry terminal. The speed limit would be something like 5 miles per hour or so. Perhaps he was intentionally trying to get onto the ferry. Something like:

'Oh dear, looks like we're late for the last ferry of the day.'

'No worries honey, never missed a boat my entire life.'

And he didn't miss.

drro, the driver was not trying to catch the ferry that was leaving and this is not a laughing matter for anyone to be making inappropriate jokes about. It was a tragic accident as a result of the RV having a mechanical failure and it sped out of control going down the very long, steep hill .

The driver, a Laval resident named Éric Belec, apparently did everything he could to warn people and to avoid pedestrians and cars on the road, yelling and honking his horn, swerving and crashing into heavy metal gates near the landing in an attempt to stop the RV before hitting the loading ramp, but the RV was going too fast.

Yeah, people can refer to the videos and images as "spectacular" (as if in a Hollywood movie) if they wish, but there is nothing at all about this that's funny.

Sometimes it's best to keep your stream of consciousness to yourself.

Yes, it was a tragic accident. Still, you don't see this kind of GTA/Dukes of Hazzard style jumps very often so there will be speculation when it actually does happen.

It all just seems so unCanadian to me, an unsafe ferry terminal because of the road on a steep hill leading to it, vehicles jumping 50 feet through the air over water at the very moment the ferry takes off hitting it just where an intentional jumper would attempt to land. I would have expected things like this to happen for example in your neighboring country, but never in Canada.
