There are some answers, I just don’t know if those answers will be made public. The police originally thought they were dealing with two missing persons. Then they got a tip and switched to looking for two murder suspects. Who provided the tip, what did that person know and how did they know? I assume the suspects either posted something online or communicated with a friend or relative which caused the police to be tipped off.

At least there is some closure for the families of the victims. Sadly, the father of the Australian victim is one of our highest ranked police officers.

I followed this story because I live right off the "Alcan" highway, albeit on the Alaskan end of it, many hundreds of miles from the murder site of the young couple. I'm glad to see the manhunt end, but I was hoping they'd capture these guys alive, if only to find out why they killed the beautiful young couple so full of life. Now we will never know "why" which makes closure for the families even harder IMO as it was seemingly for no reason.

This part made me immediately feel incredibly old... :/

Maybe the plan all along was to kill. That conjures up images of things such as Columbine High School (before either McLeod or Schmegelsky was even born)

My guess is they had a suicide pact. When they got tired of running, one would kill the other and then kill himself.

Leonard Dyck was a Mennonite, not that it matters, it's just that I automatically notice from the name. Ethnic Mennonites are like a big family. I noticed that his friends set up a crowdfunding for his widow. https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving...f-leonard-dyck

It's very odd that the police won't say how he was killed given that they had no problem telling us that the couple was shot.

Is it possible the family doesn't want it disclosed?

That's what they say but one would assume they were shot like the other couple so since the police disclosed that it doesn't seem to make much sense that they are so close mouthed about Dyck.
