This is absolutely horrible:
Quote:
Canadian authorities are trying to solve what has turned into an international murder mystery — the brutal killing of an American woman and an Australian man.
The young couple, who had been touring British Columbia, were found shot dead on the side of a remote highway on Monday.

I imagine this isn't very common at all in B.C.
Could be a serial killer on the loose?

Not to take away from this tragedy but I need to say that the above news report from the UK is completely wrong in their reporting about the highways and locations of the murders.

The Highway of Tears (Hwy # 16, aka the Yellowhead Hwy) is not the Alaska Highway (aka BC Highway # 97 North), it is a completely different highway which is no where near where this particular murder happened on the Alaska Highway, # 97, in far northern BC near the BC/Yukon border. Highway # 16 is hundreds of miles away to the south and it goes from east to west across the middle of the province over to Prince Rupert on the west coast.

Well this seems to be getting worse. Three bodies now, and two teenaged tourist boys are missing, their vehicle was found burned out on that same highway.

Three dead, two missing off northern B.C. highway leaves local residents unsettled

This is just awful.

B.C. RCMP now say that the two teenagers previously considered to be missing are now the suspects in the murders of the young couple and the still unidentified man.

Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky are believed to be in Saskatchewan now. Police said today that they are considered dangerous and should not be approached.

My mouth literally fell open when I heard that on the radio yesterday, while driving.

I'm not sure why it shocked me so much, but this whole episode is strange indeed.

A pair of psychopathic killers on the loose, that's got to be pretty frightening for the local residents in that part of Canada. Keep a shotgun by your bedside at night! Hopefully no one else gets hurt.

Those boys were last sighted yesterday in a stolen car in northeast Manitoba at a location not very far from Hudsons Bay, half a continent away from where they started out. Heavens know where they are now but the police forces of all of Canada are mobilized and there's a huge Canada-wide manhunt on. As you say, hopefully no one else gets hurt and I hope they are apprehended soon.

The father of one of the boys, can't remember which one, has said his son is in pain and this won't end well. His son is on a suicide mission.

Canada is far too large if a country for a warning to keep a shotgun by your bedside table. Besides that is illegal. The killers were last reported a 3 or 4 days drive away from the murder sites.
