Just reviewed it on Youtube:

Great slice of Canadiana. I've played this song for twenty-plus years, in bars and pubs. Many great tunes came out of the Maritimes (don't get me started), but this one just hits home. Maybe because I learned to play Maritime music from a Cape Breton Islander (who actually dated a member of the Rankin Family). Anyway, it's a great tune, that all Canadians should know.

Have you ever heard it before now?

Interestingly enough it's a Maritime-inspired song (clearly) but Stan Rogers was from Hamilton, Ontario.

As for Stan Rogers I definitely know the name as he's often brought up by CBC Radio-listening types, but I am not familiar with any of his songs. This one is no exception.
