Well, Americans are already banned from Canada for now. Unless they're essential in some way: truck drivers delivering Mexican and Californian produce, necessary workers in our industries who need to cross the border for work, health care professionals, diplomats, and so on.
Really, I don't see what your point is. Right now, ordinary Americans are banned from visiting Canada on non-essential trips. Ordinary Canadians are banned from visiting the USA for similar reasons. The border is closed to all but non-essential travel. This has been in place for the last few months, and is well-known to Canadians and Americans. Did you not know this?
Did you not read the article correctly? What inconvenience to the liars are you talking about? If foreigners are entering (or trying to enter) under false pretenses and are providing false immigration information or false information about the purpose of their travel then how are they the ones being inconvenienced?
The liars are the ones who are inconveniencing everyone else by committing the crime of misrepresenting their selves and potentially risking the lives of every other person they come in contact with. That could be construed as intent and attempt to commit homicide.
The liars should all be fined and permanently banned from Canada and be permanently red-flagged in the shared international security data bases of every other country in the world.
Better yet, they should have their passports permanently revoked and be banned from travelling outside of their own country so they can't attempt to pull the same stunt in any other countries. That's the next best thing to being charged and seeing jail time in their own country after they are turned back over to their own country's authorities.
Actually I didn't read the article at all. I found it on reddit Canada and many Canadians there wants to put a ban on your neighbor permanently and I'm thinking that might be a good idea....
I already started a prior thread about Americans sneaking into Banff while supposedly "on their way to Alaska". The RCMP has already been cracking down on such perpetrators and fining them thousands of dollars. What I think the O.P. means is curtailing exceptions like the traveling to Alaska provision, which even I as an American find it dumb to have at a time like this. Alaskans can always find other ways to get home and continental Americans shouldn't even be visiting Alaska which right now has one of the strictest quarantine measures among all 50 states and are not welcoming outside tourists at this time.
