I have personal experience with that little conundrum dating back to 2009 with my International RV toter being sideswiped on my passenger side, while waiting at a stop light, by a Yuma Freight lines semi complete with a 53 foot dry van passing me with his right side wheels up ON THE SIDEWALK!

Police investigation showed the driver was an illegal who obtained his license in California and was employed by that freight carrier to haul loads all over the continental U.S. My Insurance carrier sued them for reimbursement of repair costs and with all of the investigation bringing to light they knowingly employed a number of them, all having received their licenses from other states, they were ultimately forced to go bankrupt due to a plethora of major driving infractions.
If this happened in 2009 then it would have been by an illegal with fake documentation as CA didn’t remove the legal presence requirement for a license until 2013 under Jerry Brown’s governorship.

Back to border opening question......France, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia are all experiencing a second wave.

When this thing started the ONLY reason for a lock down was to keep the medical facilities from being over run with patients. At that time it was stated that the virus was going to keep going, whatever, we did just at a slower pace.

How bad was it in Canada this spring?? Are you going to get shutdown as the US reopens??

Of course, a vaccine would change all this, but none yet.

Anyway, how bad was it last spring in Canada??

Thanks for the links.....as of today BC is running 20% of Washington state, based on population. Right now, the spread is in the agricultural workers in Washington state........80% of the cases.

Hopefully, BC won't get the second spike and I can go fishing next spring in BC.

On March 13, 2020, the country shut down. Everyone who could work from home did, and is still working from home. Everything from museums to schools, restaurants and swimming pools closed. Everyone was told to "go home and stay home." That is what happened across the country. It was fine - no toilet paper shortages. People still shopped for essentials but otherwise stayed home.

The goal was to slow transmission of the virus to ensure that health services were not compromised/overwhelmed. It worked. Numbers were high in March/April, then reduced. The goal is to keep the number of cases low.

There was an increase in numbers in the third week of July, closing many businesses again, delaying other businesses.

Canada closed her borders to all non-Canadians in March. That applied to everyone trying to enter the country. The USA had an exception at first, but Canadians reacted strongly, so no one from the USA can enter Canada for non-essential reasons.

Canada has to look after Canadians first, and there has been a mask shortage - something about the president and national socialism refusing to allow 3M to sell to Canada.
"Premier Doug Ford urged Ontarians not to let their guard down for a second amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as he and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced 3M Canada would produce personal protective equipment, including N95 masks, at an expanded facility in Brockville, Ont.

Ford called the announcement, first reported Thursday by CBC News, one of the proudest moments of his time as premier.

Earlier in the pandemic, the province was left scrambling to acquire more PPE with just one week of supplies left.

"Back in April, I made a promise...That we would never, never again be left at the mercy again of other countries for this critical PPE," said Ford.

Thanks for your post.

It sounds like I should probably cancel the reservation for next May in BC.
