Best I heard was Dick Reeves at VOCM in St. Jon's. Network Daytime TV didn't reach Newfoundland until 1970, and the first soap opera, Another world". That was so hot, women refused to leave their house and miss it. So reeves watched
'The Story" and was on the radio, minute by minute, with a synopsis. He did such an amusing performance, there were people listening to Reeves version, instead of watching. He put the kid on the air, This led to others, and
Another good one was George Morris at CKGM in Montreal. During the Sunday Morning shift in 1965, he got a call from a little kid whose parents were still sleeping in. It turned into a regular thing -- a call-in talk show for pre-schoolers. Before most stations dared to even put screened and delayed adults on.
Around that time, Bob Gillies was also good on CKGM.
Reiner Schwarz was my favorite. CHUM FM was really difficult to get in Buffalo NY because there was another strong local station adjacent to it on the dial. I had to find a radio with great "alternate channel separation" to listen to it. I loved the station and spent 100's of hours listening to it, there will never be another like it. The entire line-up was a riot.
