Default Questions about moving to Montreal

Hi everyone! My husband and I are contemplating a move to Montreal and I have a couple of questions for anyone who can help. He will be based out of the Dorval area. What are the best family oriented areas to look at renting a house/apartment near Dorval? We are looking for an area that is safe, family oriented with easy access to grocery stores, libraries, etc. We have a baby that is almost 1. As far as the language part goes, my husband only speaks English and my French is a little rusty (but I'm looking forward to getting to use it again!!). Also, I am aware of the July 1st moving date for most of Montreal, but we are not going to be able to start looking for a place to live until mid-July. Are we going to have a lot of trouble finding somewhere to rent? Thank you for your help!!

I don't know much about Dorval except that the airport is there and it could be annoying for some people who live under the flight patterns. All of Quebec and the greater Montreal area is family oriented with perhaps some exceptions like downtown. People move all year round. Even in the Winter though the snow would have to be cleared. July 1st is a big moving day but people move all year round. People arrive from other countries in January too. Immigrants and students. I would really bone up on the French btw. Good luck.

Hello..

I live just 15 minutes from the West Island Montreal and b/f works in Dorval.. I would suggest Pointe Claire for You to live.. Most well 75% of the West Island of Montreal is English and services are easy to deal with.. if Your an anglophone.. If you need anything specific.. you can email me at bhrq@bassethoundrescuequebec.com just put Montreal in your subject line.. I'll help if I can..
