OTTAWA (AFP) — Police charged a suspect Friday with unpremeditated murder in the horrific stabbing, beheading and gutting of a fellow bus passenger returning home from a carnival in Western Canada.
Vince Weiguang Li, 40, of Edmonton faces a charge of second-degree murder, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced.
First degree requires pre-meditation. In the end it doesn't matter. Murder is a life sentence. Only difference; 1st degree no chance of probation or parole for 25 years, 2nd degree 15 years.
Both are still life. For a crime like this, his odds of parole are not good, so expect him to be gone for the rest of his natural life.
Wow... 34 other people couldn't have stopped this one guy? That's what I wonder. I read that they did attempt something after it was too late... but why not right away?

Hmmm. A maniac is beheading a fellow bus passenger.
What actions would you suggest other passengers take in the tight confines of a bus? Keep in mind that in Canada people aren't packing pistols in their purses and under their coats.
People need to stop others from these atrocities. Do whatever they can do, not just run like it isn't their problem. It may be easier said than done but at least try. I think perhaps bus drivers should be armed and prepared these days. I recently took an 8-hour bus ride and I remember thinking what close quarters and how there were no security measures. Pretty vulnerable to something like this happening.
Yeah, the six year olds on the bus could have been chewing on the attacker's ankle. And the elderly woman could have been beating the guy with her purse.

Oh, yeah, right, we duly chastened idiots all expect that should've happened. But what about the other, able-bodied adults? Surely there were enough of them to at least make some attempt at saving another person's life.
