Its not guaranteed. Among the requirements is she must be able to financially support you (e.g., working in Canada), you'd still need to pass background and health checks, etc.
Sponsoring your family: Spouses and dependent children
I've known people who's application for sponsorship were rejected.

^Speaking of sponsorship, I have friends who are from Canada and who live in Canada now. Is there a way that a friend could sponsor me?

I have found the Canadian Automobile association or CAA as it's known has great and inexpensive out of country health insurance. It's sister organization in the USA the AAA is a good place to check out the rates.
