Besides just the downtown Chinatowns, I would like to know where the Chinese populations tend to be in in both cities and where the shopping centers are for these Chinese communities. I realize Chinatown has the stores, but usually there are newer areas. Where are they?
If you can be as specific as possible, that would be great!
Calgary, it depends if you want Chinese, or Asian. Chinese, up Centre St. to 16 ave, then go NW. Edgemont, Hamptons, Sandstone (Chanstone), Arbour Lake, all very Chinese. Superstore on Sarcee and Country Hills is just as diverse as Shun Fat on Centre. There are huge Asian markets throughout the NE on 36 St from 32 Ave N to 17 Ave S. Take your pick.

I think Beijing, Shanghai, Zenzou, etc. Yo're welcome.
In Edmonton, chinatown 95 street to 97 street, between Jasper Avenue and 107 Avenue, other then that there are no specific chinese shopping centers. The Chinese people shop where everyone else does, and that is the malls. One of the busiest and biggest malls and relatively close to china town is Kingsway mall. Hope this helps, I lived in Edmonton for 45 years.
