The fans in Montreal showed their lack of class last night by booing the United States national anthem before the Bruins - Canadians game. There is no excuse for that. Shame.

Hopefully the Bruins will finish the series soon so the Montreal fans do not embarrass themselves further...

Meh, they're Quebecois. They probably booed the Canadian one too.

It's Montreal Canadiens: note the spelling. Not Montreal Canadians.
Hence why they booed your anthem and acted boorish.
Canadians, and any supporters of professional sports team named in a similar fashion would never act this way. They are too reserved and polite.
Canadiens and their supporters on the other hand...

Yeah, we people in Quebec are real meanies.

We all do bad stuff to little babies too!

I can promise you that American fans have done the same thing during other countries national anthems in the past. The people who are booing are only a very small fraction of the population, but they exist in every country, including the US.

How can you promise that?
Can you show me where this has happened?

They can boo the actual team all they want, but when they boo the national anthem then they have stepped over the line.

Classless to the nth degree!

Well I'm glad you brought it up!
It is a little know fact outside of Canada that the Québécois eat babies. They do this so they don't grow up to be anglos... OK I'm just kidding.

As Dudewiththeplan said a couple posts back, the boo'ers reflect a small minority of people. Ignore them because they're tacky.

Maybe they think Bush is still in office. Or a carryover effect from 4/20. Well rudeness and boorishness is universal-unfortunately. I really enjoyed the US flag burning during St. Jean-Baptiste day celebrations in Quebec city. If it weren't for my kids, I would have pi**ed on the protesters.....of course as a public service to keep them from setting themselves on fire as they torched the Stars & Stripes.

Moderator's note:

If folks want to discuss the actions of a certain number of boorish fans at a hockey game, that's fine, but this thread is not a Quebec-bash
