I'm going to be visiting Montreal next month and was wondering what to expect? Will there be interesting things to do and how's the nightlife compared to that of Toronto. I hear Toronto is where all the action is but I could be mistaken....Any thoughts are welcome.

In terms of nightlife, Montreal is to Toronto what Miami/New Orleans is to New York.

Montreal's nightlife is very very lively with many different places and neighborhoods to go to. It all depends on what you expect or mean as far as nightlife such as restaurant, theatres, clubs, strips joints, after hours, bars, concerts etc.... but Montreal surely is one of the best cities in north america for the nightlife.

Concerning cuture, nightlife, architecture and history. I think Montreal is much intersting ti visit than Toronto, but concerning job, finance, Toronto by far is better and newer (lot of skyskraper) than Montreal.

I find it very hard to believe that Montreal could be worse for nightlife than Toronto.

I'm assuming kingtodd was referring to the bar and nightlife scene when refering to action,he's been terribly misinformed if he's thinking Toronto beats Montreal in that repect. as he posted several years ago it would have been nice if he'd got back to us on how he enjoyed Toronto and Montreal .

Montreal has a better pure night life i.e clubbing, bars, last call an hour later but toronto seems to have more overall activities/events.
