Question Anyone here attend McGill University in Montreal?

Hey everyone. I haven't been to Canada in a long, long time.

Are there any Canadians here that go to McGill University in downtown Montreal?

To any McGill University students here, I have a couple of questions-

Is Molson Stadium on the McGill University campus ever used for concerts?

Besides Redmen and Alouettes games- What other events take place in that stadium?

I'm curious because AC/DC is going to play at Montreal's Olympic Stadium. I mean- Why can't they play at Molson Stadium, which is outdoors?

Molson Stadium is going to be expanded to 25.000, and its surroundings on Mount Royal are very beautiful. It would be an appropriate venue for bands like AC/DC and even U2.

So can any McGill University students help me out?

Thanks in advance!

I don't go to McGill and don't even live in Montreal (actually, two hours west of there), but since no one has answered I can tell you that concerts and other shows at Molson Stadium are quite rate. One concert I remember being held there a few years ago was actually a benefit concert by the city's symphony orchestra.

There is music performed at Molson Stadium occasionally, but it's for pregame or halftime entertainment linked to Alouettes' games.

Not sure if the expansion to 25,000 seats will allow the stadium to become a regular concert venue.

I did some research over at Wikipedia.

Don Valley Stadium in the UK has a capacity of 25,000 as well. And that stadium hosts big rock concerts almost frequently.

So why can't Molson Stadium do the same?

Unless the city of Montreal has some sort of noise ordinance on the McGill campus.

Probably because there are other good venues in Montreal already like the Bell Centre and Olympic Stadium...

I did some research on the internet. And it turns out that Molson Stadium did host at least one real concert.

Toronto-based band Our Lady Peace performed at the stadium in March 2000.

Check it out:

However, the concert seems to be a bit scaled-down.
