USA seems to be using Canada, we are only their allies when they want something from us.

I also think we need start trading with more countries and not be so dependent on America.

What do you guys think?

You could also say Canada is using the US to buy the majority of its exports and heaven forbid if the US decided to shut the border one day and did not buy any Canadian products. Take a course in International Business and you will see that International Trade is not "using" a country.

Closing the border would also hurt the usa, where else would you be able to buy cheap oil, electricity, etc if not from Canada. Also my title clearly says what do CANADIANS think.

You ARE joking, right ?? LMAO..... I don't recall Canada doing very much for America as far as being an "ally". We can count on The United Kingdom and other countries FAR more than we could ever count on Canada.

Secondly, Canada gets PLENTY of benefits off America.

Ahem.. don't ASSUME I'm not Canadian.
Closing the border would hurt Canada a lot more economically.
And second AHEM.. ANYONE can post on C-D. .you can't just limit responses to Canadians!.. if you have a problem with this AMERICAN site.. find a Canadian CD equivalent to create your threads -- this might suit you better..

I have not heard that it was offically signed into legislation.. and it pertains to US government stimulus spending.. how US taxpayers dollars are being spent.. I don't see a problem if the money COMES FROM US TAXPAYER TAXATION DOLLARS. If Harper wants to create his own stimulus spending from money received from Canadian taxpayers I don't see a problem with a buy Canadian clause.

News, Canada Passes "Buy Canada" Type Resolution.

I just moved to the US a month ago so I have not been following US government policy. I am much more familiar with Canadian and Australian politics.
Again I do not see the US as using Canada. Both are trading partners so in essence both sides use each other. And I do not have a problem if Harper has a buy Canadian clause in any stimulus bill; I don't see the problem with a buy US clause given the moneys comes from US taxpayers.
