I am actually going to Ottawa in a few days. Could you recommend a few places to see besides Parliament Hill? I would have probably a whole day (include a night) in Ottawa.

Aside from Parliament if you only have one day probably the next must-see is the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau.
Also:
Gatineau Park (peak leaf colour time is now)
National Gallery of Canada
Canadian War Museum
Casino du Lac-Leamy (if you like that stuff)
The most interesting part of town is the Byward Market area.

I don't know about Ottawa/Gatineau too much, but the area around Dalhousie St. seemed interesting, as well as Rideau Canal.
Montreal or Vancouver. Toronto absolutely blows. Bland architecture, third world refugees EVERYWHERE except the financial district ironically. ****ty grid roads, heavy traffic. Montreal you will have tons of fun, loads of european flavour in food, architecture, women. People generally dress classier. Montreal probably one of the most underrated cities in North America. TONS of NYCers frequent the place to have a blast.

Stay away from Toronto, you'll be disappointed in my opinion.
T.O tries desperately to be NYC or Chicago, but it's not. You can put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig. Toronto is just a really big small town with endless housing and no culture. It;s just a town on a lake, with nothing really to do. Sure, there's the CN tower, then what? Just my .02
For my money, it's Vancouver for everything but nightlife. Van is warmer, more walkable, better scenery.
For nightlife it's Montreal, although the french will start to annoy you after awhile.

Yeah, I know. When I go to Calgary all those people speaking English around me really starts getting on my nerves after a few days. Same with Spanish in Madrid, German in Berlin and Japanese in Tokyo.
I mean, those people have a lot of nerve... speaking their own language in their own city. What are they thinking?
I just came back from my third trip from Montreal, and still feel I didn't have time to explore much of this beautiful city. The city never ceases to surprise me how much it offers.
On the other hand, every time I have a friend visiting Toronto, I have nothing to show them after a sheer 1-2 days, honestly. Toronto outside its downtown and Yonge St/Bloor St, is just too residential.
I'd rather visit Montreal 5 times and not go to Toronto even once without regret whatsoever.
