There have been over 20,000 studies done on marijuana, you might want to read some of them. Marijuana has some anti-cancer properties that you might find suprising. While smoking anything will irritate your lungs to some extent, and is generally not good for you, there has never been shown a causitive link between marijuana smoking and cancer, even in long term heavy users. Studies have shown that even though you might reasonably think marijuana smoke might be worse, because it's unfiltered and some users breathe in deeper and hold it longer than nicotine, in practice, that isn't so. Marijuana users tend to smoke less by volume than nicotine users. American tobacco is not a natural product by the time it reaches the consumer, with several additives, some suspected cancer causing, added to speed nicotine to the brain. Since marijuana is not addictive in the way that nicotine is, there isn't a compelling reason for marijuana users to maintain a specific blood level, like tobacco users must do, or suffer from the beginnings of withdrawal. Overall, the effects of marijuana use (besides long prison sentences in some states if you are caught) are very mild, yet our government still treats it as if its use means the END OF LIFE AS WE KNOW IT. It makes no sense, especially since good unbiased scientic study refutes our government's position.
