My dad was diagnosed with hemorrhagic cystitis which is a fancy name for blood in the urine.
Does anyone know when its been too long for Hemorrhagic cystitis to develop in the bladder for a person who was treated with radiation for prostate cancer?
I know this is probably not as easy as that but more of HC could develop from immediately thru so many years.
We are being told HC can develop 10 -15 years later, the doctors have not done a CT or had a cystoscopy just an ultrasound.
One of the problems is went to the ER on the weekend and they kept saying they will not be able to do anything until monday, today.
Sorry I blithering, just very frustrated with poor lack of medical care.
Radiation treatments really make the urinary system permanently friable and brittle, the possibility of blood in the urine is certainly possible long after the treatments.
Your father's condition, although disturbing, really isn't a terribly urgent emergency. The amount of blood lost isn't that great, certainly not enough to cause anemia or other serious injury. Waiting a few days isn't likely to be harmful.
