Just went through some stuff that says that cancer may lead to osteoporosis- porous bones due to low bone mass density. I really did not get it nor heard about such thing before! Anyone know something about it?

One of the consequences of chemo-therapy is nausea and loss of appetite. For this reason I recommend vitamin and calcium supplements. These can be taken as crystals in water so the patient can keep them down.

After I had four rounds of chemo I was diagnosed with degenerative osteoarthritis. Not to whine, but it didn't appear that I had it before that I could tell and it's a lot on top of MS. Like MS, my ability to walk without pain or even stand up straight, comes and goes. My legs appear to have a permanent bend in them.

But so far the cancer is gone (ovarian, stage 1A); I'm luckier than many. I was first diagnosed with the cancer a year ago.

I think we need to take these claims pretty much with a grain of salt, until we see more studies done. We have had a lot of friends from our church and other circles who have had all types of cancers, some with radiation and some with chemo; I have never heard a one of them make this claim or heard a doctor way anything like this. I do know that radiation, especially if you have several treatments (4 months like my husband) it will leave you with weak muscles, but that certainly isn't the same. BTW daniel, where did you get this information, just curious because it isn't the first thing you have posted with no backup info?

My bone density was excellent prior to cancer, and still is.
