I imagine that you are worried. Hope everything works out for you. I had a suspicious lump, but it was nothing, and it had blood veins going to and from it.

I just had a mamo and have implants so there's not alot of tissue left to have something wrong and my doctor called to say they saw more calcium deposits than last year and want me to get it done in 6 mos again. I hear they can turn cancerous but have never heard of anyone that had that happen. Anyone ever hear of it? Good luck to you and i am sure it will be nothing at all. You said it suddenly popped up, how could that happen?

Thanks everyone for all the good thoughts.

I'm scared but not terrified if that makes sense. I'm very surprised too. I just noticed the lump on Thursday and everything seems to be happening so fast. I know the chances of them being cancer if very slim though, which is good. I'm not too happy about getting the biopsy because I've heard they can be very painful and then even if they are not cancerous they might want to surgically remove the lumps.

I will always do self exams now. I had a mammogram done last February and my annual pap smear done just a little over a month ago and nothing was ever detected. So to find this lump (which is large) was to say the least, shocking and frightening. Actually my husband found it. If he hadn't I may not of noticed it for awhile.

Yes; my former co-worker had her mastectomy 2 years ago. Listen to your doctor and have the repeat in 6 months and be vigilant with your self-exams. Implants can obscure or hide tumors, hence the re-check.

I went through the sonagram deal in late October.
They had me scared because they told me I needed to see a surgeon but it turned out to be a bunch of cysts and non cancerous.
Keep us updated on yourself and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Enjoy your birthday.

Hugs to you.

Hi Roma...

I have a calcium deposit in my left breast, which was found about 13 years ago by, of all people, the guy who invented the mammogram machine (in NY). I had had a regular mammogram (my first AFTER my grandmother was diagnosed and had to have a radical mastectomy at the age of 88!) and the rad who read it saw "something" (which ended up being an "artifact") but I was referred to that other rad, who found the calcium spot.

I spent about 5 years having follow-up, preventive mammograms and always worried sick about "what if". Then I moved to Miami and kept having the mammos, until this one doctor said "let's just do a biopsy and get it over with".

I was petrified, because what if "what if" was positive? I was really more scared of the needle I would have to have. He did a core biopsy. It didn't hurt one bit. Not even the needle they used for the anesthetic. Nothing.

As he was taking little pieces of tissue out, and I could see the overhead screen, with exactly what they were doing... I could also see his face and heard the comments he would make under his breath to the nurse. So I finally asked (I didn't even want to breathe to not move) "so what's going on doc"? "what do you see"?

And he was very positive. Couldn't tell me anything final until the path report came in but in the meantime, he didn't think it was anything. Just keep watching it. And so it was negative and we've kept watching it.

So........to make a long story short........have the biopsy and, IF there is anything further to be done, do it! ASAP. No need to have any worrying hanging around. It's probably JUST a LUMP and that can be removed easily and that's that!

Let us know please as you do more testing and have more results. We're pulling for you!

Hi everyone!

I went to the surgeon this morning and he said that I need to go back later this week for a biopsy. He said that they were not cysts but he didn't think they were cancerous either but the biopsy with confirm that he said. He believes they are Fibroadenoma (sp?). Good new so far!!!
