While I did not receive radiation, when it was still on the table I was expecting to work full time through it (as I did through chemo, though towards the end I had to take more time off). Not ideal, but what I would need to do to keep a roof over my head. Depending on other factors like your age, overall health, and the area being radiated, it wouldn't be abnormal to expect to work full time through treatment. Many go for radiation first thing in the morning, after work, or on lunch or otherwise come in a little late or leave a little early.

Just something to consider!
Yeah that would work only thing is the treatments are three hours away from the job site. So not physically possible.

So I got the job!!! Ironically enough, they called me while I was driving back from my doctors appt to discuss radiation therapy. They will call me back on Tuesday with more details and the actual job offer. So I plan on disclosing my time off I need and then just let the chips fall where they may.

Congratulations!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that they will be able to accommodate the time you need for your treatment (and of course for a full and successful recovery!)

Congratulations!! Well, it sounds as if you are handling this the best way possible. After all, you couldn't have known in advance that you would need to schedule a new job around it. Good luck!!

Thanks! I will. They had to go out of town for work last week, so no call yet. But I hope they don't call me for awhile, that's the best case scenario. That way I can tell them a shorter period of time for the start date.

Just got word back from the job! They are willing to let me start in April! I'm in the second week of my treatments now and so far so good! No side effects other than a slight sore throat, though doc says it would be early if i did have them. Just waiting for final paperwork to sign off on! 😁
