Hi everyone, I’m really unsure where to put this thread because it’s not exactly cancer, but I just didn’t know where else to put it. I’m sorry, I’m just really worried and need some advice.

So a quick run down of what’s happening: I got a colonoscopy 2 years ago due to stomach issues and GI bleeding. It was all clear so they diagnosed me with IBS. A year later, I continued to have stomach pains and slight bleeding here and there, so I got a second look from another GI, who did another colonoscopy and found a hemorrhoid. Everything was fine from then on, apart from some stomach pains here and there. However, for the past few weeks I’ve been seeing blood when using the bathroom. It’s always bright red blood, so I put it down to the hemorrhoid. But this morning when I went to use the bathroom the whole toilet bowl was red. I freaked out and isolated myself in my dorm the whole day. I’ve calmed down a bit but I’m still a bit worried. I know I have had two colonoscopies where nothing bad was found, but just seeing so much blood this morning was scary. I’m just not sure what to do, could this be just a bad case of hemorrhoids or something else? Should I see my PCP about this? I’m currently at at university right now so I don’t have access to my doctor but I could make an appointment during my winter break.

Any advice?

Definitely see a doctor but don't freak out. I had hemorrhoids when I was on chemotherapy (for breast cancer) and there was quite a bit of blood in the toilet at times. Now I am three months out from chemotherapy and no more blood.

I’m just a little scared because it was a lot t of blood, more than I’ve ever seen. I just hope it’s nothing serious considering I had two colonoscopies which were normal.

Instead of letting all this anxiety get the better of you (and complicate an already sensitive GI situation) see your doctor and find out. It still could be the hemorrhoid or anal fissure. No possibility of a UTI right?

I agree. Sometimes even a fairly small amount of blood can look like a lot more in the water of the toilet.
