I will say that if doctors gave me no hope, I would try it. What would I have to lose?

Actually she was in NJ but further up the river in Hunterdon County.

If I see my mail lady before we move I will ask her if it's the same person.
I don't think the lady goes to her church any more due to moving.
She told me this story about 3 - 4 years ago so I'm not sure how long ago it all happened.

Uhh sorry but this lady died eventually...but Not from the cancer itself but a heart malfunction later on. Although her friend did move out west I think.

Wow thank you all for your replies. I wasn't expecting such a large response.
My brother in law is 34. I am staying in their home for the time being and luckily will be there to help cook meals and visit the doctor, as well as offering support. I was planning on moving out closer to my job, but I will probably end up staying for a while. It has been hard on us.
Many have suggested Sloan, we are doing our best to get him in there. We have contacted them and have begun the appointment process. We have our fingers crossed that something will work out as I understand this is one of the best cancer centers in the US. They told us it could be up to a couple weeks to get an appointment but given the nature of the cancer, hopefully it will be sped up.
The diagnosis was liver & lung cancer. It began in the lungs and went to the liver. He never smoked a day in his life.
We have read your responses as a family and are so thankful for everything you all posted. You don't know how tremendously your suggestions have helped us begin this process. My condolences to those who lost someone close to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

You're right about it being so hard on all of you kidyankee764. Sounds like you're a great help to your brother-in-law right now. Hang in best you can, all of you and good luck.
Two close friends of mine with lung cancer had never smoked either. How does that work?
Dlh891, it is so good to hear that your father is doing so well now. What a turn-around, as you mention, from a year ago.
Sorry to hear that your father's has come back Roselvr. What a dreaded disease this cancer is.
Matt, one of your websites you posted was about radio waves being able to kill cancer cells.
Funny enough, we watched what I thought was a very informative program on 60 Minutes not long ago, of this very person, who came up with the idea. It does sound kind of strange that it evolved from using an old pie plate and a hot dog, but this fellow is not a scientist .. an engineer I think.
Combining his idea of radio waves with other scientific research, so far .. it sounds plausible and that it could work and they are quite excited about it.
I understand that they've gotten to this point many times before, where it's working on animals, and then doesn't work when applied to humans. Understand also that it will be about 4 yrs down the road still, before they do start testing it on humans.
Just a quick blurb from your site explaining better than I can how it works ..
Researchers are working on perfecting the technique, which involves injecting the body with tiny, metallic nanoparticles that heat up when radio waves are applied. Some experts are really excited by the technology, but it will be several years before the device can be tested on humans.
I don't remember now, how they've perfected how the tiny nanoparticles glom on to the cancer cells only, but they do .. and then the radio waves zone in only on those cells, without disturbing other healthy cells in the body.
It was really interesting and hope like hell that something comes out of it. Wouldn't that be something?

Him being so young really hurts emotionally, especially since he didn't smoke. Have those closest get some counseling if they can or find a support group. Not sure if I mentioned planet cancer, looks like a great site that wasn't around when I was going through it. There are many parts to the site, you can even blog, go to a forum and find support for his age range. I was thankful for the online friends I had at the time at one forum I went to.
If anyone can donate blood or plateletes please try to do that. If he decided to use sloan, they should have their own blood center. If he does chemo he will most likely need blood at some point.
Cancer hits home with a lot of us. I lost my dad to leukemia, then my FIL was diagnosed with some sort of cancer of the brain about a week after losing my dad, he passed 6 weeks later, his diagnosis came the day after. His cancer was so rare on 32 people had it & there was nothing they could do. My MIL is currently fighting breast cancer and I might be looking at a female related cancer, have tests in 2 weeks. You are not alone for sure.
Hopefully everyone will be able to hang in there. It gets frustrating for everyone and you each might need time alone. Just remember to keep the spirits up of your BIL. The main care givers will also need emotional support. When my dad was in the hospital I used ribbon on the wall in front of his bed to hang cards, which brightened his day. We had pictures taped every where, no matter which way he turned his head he saw us and remembered he wasn't alone. My daughter made him a photo album which he treasured.

Hi-
My name is David and I have been exposed to something that is changing people's lives in terms of a once fading health being restored by proper nutrition the body needs. I know a man whose life was changed with HEP C which was progressing to stage IV Cirrhosis. He was told about this good nutrition and started immediately on the products. After seeing great results, he began to share with others and as he has worked hard and opened his mouth to tell what has happened, there have been many lives changed with different cancers and disease. If you would like to just hear and see the reality then give me a call on my cell: Moderator cut: no posting phone numbers You should know what this is and has been hope for many people.

Reminds me of another item Matt mentioned, about bogus vitamins and such.
Something I was taking ages ago, came up in the news as being bogus. Since then, I stick to companies that I'm familiar with and have good reputations.
I stay away from those places especially, that bottle up all their own vitamins and put their own label on everything. They advertise cheaper prices, but who knows what you're taking, how it was made, where, etc.
Although .. got something from a Chinese herbablist .. a combo for hot flashes and it seems to be helping. But I wasn't familiar with the label and looked it up on the internet .. and found no sign of it or the company anywhere??

Correct, not everything with a 'name brand' is necessarily better.
I actually used to work in health food stores and learned alot while there.
