I will say that if doctors gave me no hope, I would try it. What would I have to lose?
I see no harm in trying some of the regimines like juicing...I'm merely cautioning that it's a field with plenty of fakes, placebos and hustlers. Also, there are always exceptions and people that were "cured" but hard to say what exactly did it in some cases.

I have read several reports about internet supplements and regimines that come in from foreign countries where they basically sell pills filled with filler and not vitamins...no one is regulating it and it can be easy money selling $2 worth of inert junk for $30.

I've heard of plenty of desperate, sick or semi-competant people being hustled out of their last cent leaving their family destitute over "cures".

Just saying be alert, do your homework and deal with reputable sources.
Also, be very very wary of people trying to bash or steer you away from "main-stream medicine"...the same medicine that has made huge strides in breast cancer survival rates and they are strictly monitored. I personally think they are trying to make a buck pushing thier stuff or are conspiracy types as the data on cancer treatment improvements is open to public review and scientific.

Very well spoken. I agree with it all...

Right, but there are also probably more established local mom & pop health food stores that carry legitmate and time tested supplements.
Solgar for example is a brand that alot of seniors and foreigners would ask for by name when I worked at the vitamin shop.
All this again from first hand experience,no reading about internet supplements needed

At first the doctors thought it could be TB but that test came back negative. He was diagnosed with cancer of the lung, which has spread to his liver and is in Stage IV.

I have been doing a lot of research and realize that this is not a good thing. Stage IV is bad. It seems as if the examples given refer to the elderly, but given that he is young and otherwise healthy, is there a possibility he can successfully fight it? They are going to start Chemo very soon.

What are the next steps that we, as a family, need to take? I never have dealt with cancer before and am unsure how to go about this with a level head. I'm not sure what to expect - and I don't want to be misinformed due to all of the conflicting things I'm reading on various websites. The Doc told us not to read online because so much is inaccurate.

I'm not asking for a prognosis from you guys, rather some words possibly from someone who has experienced a similar situation? Anyone know of any books to keep me informed about what exactly is happening, and what to expect?

Thanks for any help.
I have no advice to give but I am experiencing a similar situation.

My brother was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer several weeks ago and passed away Monday.

The lung cancer had spread to the liver, brain and bones by the time he sought medical attention. You might search online for Hospice sites--I never found the FYI that I sought--knowing very little about this disease.

At the end he required morphine by IV.

He is at peace now after more than anyone should have to bear.

If anyone has any poems, scripture verses or thoughts to share I would appreciate them.

My heart goes out to you takeahike. I thank God everyday that my father's employees harassed him into going to the doctor when he did, by that time, he was in stage 3b lung cancer.

I wish I knew what to say to take away some of the heartbreak for you.

Thanks.

I loved my brother, will always love him but he stopped caring about himself long ago. Too much like Ernest Hemingway and very much like his Dad.

I have to believe that what could not be managed in the mortal realm will be taken care of in the Hereafter.
