Praying is absolutely worthless. Tell your friend to travel over to Cuba. They've actually developed a vaccine for lung cancer that might him or her.

Moderator cut: reposted a post that was deleted
Well if the OP's friend is an American it sounds like he/she would be SOL on that idea.
"The exception would probably be Americans, she said, who are restricted from Cuba travel by the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba in place since 1962."

If your friend has not had chemo, pass this article along: Can You Trust Chemotherapy to Cure Your Cancer?
In my expereince, prayer is good therapy when it is combined with other natural therapies ( seems to make them work a little better ). However, it doesn't seem very helpful on its own. It reminds me of the story of a religious party travelling thru the jungle. An argument ensued about what to do with the horses overnight. One group of people believed that all they had to do was to ask God to proterct the horses, while another group thought that it would be more prudent to tie up the horses. Suddenly a soft voice was heard, Pray to God AND tie up the horses!

Here is a link to a book that takes a serious look at the healing benefits of prayer:
Prayer Is Good Medicine: How to Reap the Healing Benefits of Prayer by Larry Dossey
I was left with a favorable impression when I read it a few years ago.
