I had thyroid cancer 3 years ago. It was spread to three areas in my neck. I had my thyroid removed and that was painful. Recovery took about a week.Treatment was relatively simple and there was some relief in that this cancer is almost always slow growing. I had to swallow a radioactive iodine pill and be isolated until the geiger counter read in a safe range for me to go. The other hard part was going off my medicine. I was taking 175 mcg and stopping was hell. I felt like sludge and I had a new baby to take care of. I actually postponed treatment so I could nurse my baby longer. Glad I did that. What does your daughter's doctor tell you? How old is she btw?

Sorry and we will keep yall in our thoughts and praers .

I do know that you should stay away from kids and babies who have recently had shots after treatment begins . And of course anyone else who is sick .

I would be interested in her symptoms and early thyroid tests and how the cancer was diagnosed. Did she have symptoms of hypothyroidism. Of course, I am interested due to my own thyroid and I do wish her a speedy recovery.

i have follicular and papillary thyroid cancer..had total thyroidectomy 2 months ago and now in isolation after radioactive iodine ablation..the dose depends on the result of the diagnostic dose given (where I was still able to go home and be with the family).. it is a straightforward treatment..best of luck to your daughter..
