I recently got a new car and changed insurance to Geico and they offered a warranty for mechanical breakdown but I'm unsure of the quality of this policy.

I've read not to purchase any warranty other than a manufacturers because most warranties are from fly by night places that never pay a claim and cost thousands of dollars.

The coverage from Geico is only $19.75 per 6 months with a $250 deductible. Obviously my new car has a factory warranty but Geico only gives you 15 months or 15k miles to sign up before the car becomes ineligible and then you can keep coverage indefinetely.

Any thoughts on if this coverage is worth it?
