So I have unknown problems with my truck which may be as a result of being rear-ended by a car traveling roughly 25mph. I have the accident report, the name and policy number of the person who hit me, and a truck with no visible damage (but the check engine light is now on).

Still looking for the best procedure for initiating a claim in this scenario, where the other driver is at fault.

If YOUR insurance company will not help you, then find someone else. They can at least tell you what you need to do in this situation. Go to AutoZone and get a FREE scan that will narrow the problem down to a few possible issues.

Did you just buy gas? Check to see if your cap is loose, or missing, that's the most common cause of the CEL.

My truck doesn't run on gasoline. I REALLY hate OPEC. So I did something about it and bought a CNG truck.

The check engine light turned out to be a fuel mixture sensor. Said one of the cylinders was running lean. I cleared it and it hasn't come back on.

And after 30 minutes of cleanup this is now closed, I hope the OP was able to find an answer somewhere between all the childish bickering.
