I found a website were you can select a 2016 car and your state. It will give you a quote for average insurance rates. You can add 10 cars to compare. You can only compare 2016 models.

Most and least expensive vehicles to insure for 2016

This is just what I was looking for. If you want to find out the insurance rates from online insurance companies, you have to fill out your personal information and the insurance agent will contact you trying to get your business. I didn't want to go through that.

I just wanted a ballpark figure because my current vehicle is a 2008 and insurance on a new vehicle is going to be higher.

When I do decide on a new car to buy, it will be interesting to see how close the amount from my agent compares to insure.com.

Not true. I had new Corvette Z06 that cost less to insure than my Subaru WRX. My agent said a WRX STi, which is much more expensive than a base WRX, would have cost less to insure than a regular WRX. My Cadillac CTS-V costs the same to insure as my Taurus SHO. Unless the car is an exotic with super expensive parts, insurance costs have more to do with the demographics of the typical owner than the price of the car.

Yep repair cost of the car is peanuts compared to injury liabilities. So the type of people attracted to the car is more important. Luxury cars can be cheaper because less experienced drivers can't afford them.
