All I'll say about the minimum insurance thing...
Your daughters exemplary record of behavior will not help her recognize dicey traffic situations as they quickly arise.
Her academic prowess won't help her recognize black ice or slightly slick conditions.
Her ambition isn't going to affect her reaction time or car control skills, or behavior in a panic situation.
I think most financial advisors with no relationship to the insurance business recommend people carry more than the minimums.
Please make sure she has great new tires on the car and a recent brake job!
Anyhow, I digress. I think the easiest option is for you to sell her the car for a nominal fee.
All I was getting at was that many states don't care what the actual bill of sale says. This prevents (as an example) you selling me a car for $10,000, and writing in "$1" or "$1 and other good consideration" on the bill of sale as I hand you $10K in cash/money order/cashiers check. They'll plug the make, model, year mileage of the car and tell you what the tax bill is. I think from the IN DMV website that the minimum is $375, that's where I don't completely understand. It could well be that if you list the sale price as $1 they take that at face value. Most states won't, though.
The Indiana BMV has a youtube video on their website with everything you need for a private party sale. The forms are right there and easy enough to print out and understand.
Given all you're trying to accomplish, expect a long day at the DMV
Have your ducks in a row with the insurance question through your agent.
Have all the paperwork you can filled out ahead of time (easy enough for the transfer of title.) Good Luck!
