I just caused a minor fender bender in early Feb and received my 6-month renewal in early March. Luckily, my premium only increased by $11 for the 6 months. My question is if the insurance co can/would raise my rates at anytime within the 6-month period?

Carriers probably have different policies. They usually send an explanation of what your new 6 month premium will be before the coverage period starts. Did you read the description and compare it to your previous one? Maybe you'll see why the rate went up. You should ask them why or whether they raised it because of your accident or not.

The $11 increase may not have had anything to do with your accident. It's way too small to be a surcharge. More likely a company wide rate adjustment.

Your 6 month renewal was probably prepared before your accident claim was finished so the accident surcharge wouldn't have caught up with you this renewal.

I suspect you are in for a big surprise next renewal. It shouldn't happen during the 6 month term.

I do not believe an insurance company can raise your rate in the middle of the term without a change being made to your policy. With that said, I agree with adjusterjack in that your renewal was probably already determined and they will ding you on the next renewal.
